We congratulate Rebecca W. Watson on her retirement after a remarkable 48-year career. All of us at Welborn enjoyed her 16 years at our firm.
Rebecca’s knowledge and experience in natural resources/energy law and policy led to her appointment as the Assistant Secretary for Land and Minerals Management at the U.S. Department of the Interior under President George W. Bush from 2002-2005.
Welborn welcomed Rebecca in 2010 where she has continued to shape energy and public land policy; handle complex natural resource litigation; provide environmental permitting advice; and guidance in government affairs until her retirement this month. Rebecca’s willingness to embrace change and strong focus on the next generation of lawyers were an asset to firm management.
To quote Rebecca, “the best advice I got from our dear, mutual friend…was to interview at Welborn. Welborn lawyers in the Denver and Casper offices, to a person, value ethical practice, creative client service and support the legal profession and their communities. It doesn’t get any better than that.”
We wish Rebecca the best in her next chapter!
