Overview

Kristin Knetzer is an experienced title and regulatory attorney representing clients across the natural resources sector.

With a practice grounded in precision and problem-solving, Kristin provides thoughtful and detailed counsel to clients as they evaluate property and mineral title and navigate complex leasing and development issues. Kristin has extensive experience drafting title opinions covering federal, state, and fee lands in several states.

Kristin is originally from Springfield, Missouri. In 2023, she received her Juris Doctor degree from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law, where she graduated Order of the Coif. She also served as the Production Editor of the Water Law Review. During law school, Kristin developed her interest in natural resources law through coursework, internships, and research focused on the intersection of regulation, property rights, and resource development.

In her free time, Kristin enjoys spending time in the mountains, live music, and traveling.

Experience & Results

  • Authored title opinions covering fee, federal, and state lands in multiple states within the Rocky Mountain region.
  • Represented a geothermal energy company in Colorado Energy and Carbon Management Commission Geothermal Rulemaking to assist in the development of the Commission’s first set of rules and regulations covering geothermal operations.
  • Assisted in the preparation of rulemaking filings in Colorado Energy and Carbon Management Commission Cumulative Impacts Rulemaking to address cumulative impacts to communities across Colorado from oil and gas operations.
  • Assisted with representation of numerous energy companies in matters before the Colorado
  • Energy and Carbon Management Commission, including oil and gas development plans, and spacing and pooling applications.
