Overview

Anthony is a skilled trial attorney and litigator representing clients in a variety of civil litigation disputes and regulatory matters.

Anthony assists clients navigate and litigate a range of matters including mineral rights and oil and gas operations, construction and real property disputes, and governmental regulations and agency actions.

During law school, Anthony earned a spot on the University of Denver’s top 10 ranking National Trial Team, where he won first in national competition. He also served as the Managing Editor for the University of Denver Water Law Review and as a teaching assistant for the legal writing and research course. While in law school, Anthony also gained invaluable experience interning with the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Colorado, the Colorado Attorney General’s Office, and various law firms throughout Denver. Under the Student Practice Act, he successfully prosecuted several jury trials at the Colorado 17th Judicial District Attorney’s Office. These experiences helped develop Anthony’s writing and courtroom skills, which he now brings to his practice at Welborn Sullivan Meck & Tooley, P.C.

Anthony has a unique understanding of natural resource industries as a fifth-generation Coloradan who grew up on a cattle ranch in the small coal mining town of Paonia, Colorado.

  • Representation of cattle ranchers seeking a prescriptive easement.
  • Representation of industry trade association in federal court alleging violations of the National Environmental Policy Act.
  • Representation of commercial landlords in forced entry and detainer actions.
  • Successfully bifurcated and stayed claims concerning mineral interest ownership and royalties.
  • Successfully obtained dismissal of federal claims seeking a permanent injunction against developer.
  • Successfully resolved dispute concerning surface use agreements and oil and gas leases.
  • Successfully obtained resolution of a breach of contract dispute concerning minimum volume commitments and shortfall fees.
